Description:
The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital services approximately 44,000 residents of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville areas with sites in the towns of Perth and Smiths Falls. Erskine Dredge & Associates Architects Inc. is the prime consultant for the redevelopment initiative of the Smiths Falls site which includes demolition of the 1904 wing, extensive renovations throughout the remainder of the hospital building and the construction of a new two-storey wing. This new addition to the hospital, completed in May 2010, is the state-of-the-art home for Diagnostic Imaging, Ambulatory Care, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgical Services and ICU. The renovation of the existing hospital, including the 36 Bed In-patient Unit, is nearing final completion. An essential part of the project was the complete re-cladding of the original hospital, built in the 1950’s and added to in the 1960’s, using an exterior insulation and finish system. The final result will not only increase the insulation value of the exterior wall, it will provide a cohesive and fresh new image for the hospital.
